Funded Skills Training in York and North Yorkshire

We are working in partnership with York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority to provide funded training that helps adults develop the skills needed by employers and supports the economic and skills priorities of the region.

Through the Adult Skills Fund, our training provides opportunities for people across York and North Yorkshire to develop practical, occupational and technical skills that can support progression into employment, further learning or development within their existing career.

The Adult Skills Fund is designed to help adults gain skills that lead to meaningful, sustained and relevant employment or progression to further learning.

Skills for People, Employers and York and North Yorkshire

York and North Yorkshire is a diverse region, encompassing urban, rural and coastal communities. The Combined Authority’s approach to adult skills investment is designed to respond to this diversity while ensuring local people and employers can access the skills they need.

Through our partnership with York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, we provide training that responds to identified skills needs and creates clear routes towards employment and career progression.

Our funded programmes are designed to:

Help adults progress towards meaningful and sustainable employment
Support career changers and people looking to enter new sectors
Help eligible people already in work develop their skills and progress
Respond to the current and emerging skills needs of employers
Improve access to training for people living in rural and other communities across York and North Yorkshire
Support progression into further technical training, apprenticeships and higher-level learning

The Combined Authority’s commissioning principles place particular emphasis on positive learner outcomes, lifelong learning and social mobility, accessibility and inclusion, responding to rurality and transport challenges, and ensuring provision is relevant to local learner and business needs.
