Meet the Maya Rail Team

Maya Rail was founded in 2015  with a goal to build a reputable market leading Rail training provider that caterers for the national and international demand for high quality, competitively priced training solution. Along the way our MD Rob has been successful in attracting and recruiting the very best trainers in the UK building a best-in-class delivery team along with the support of a highly competent and experienced administration team.

Andy May

A career railway engineer Andy has a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience that is unrivalled in his position as Maya Rail MD. Andy still maintains an active role on site as well as the classroom maintaining his own competence to support that of his learners and staff. Andy is leading from the front in all areas of the business and heads up the quality assurance activity ensuring our courses are delivered consistently to the highest standards

Rob Clark

As an ex armed services member Rob joined the railway as an apprentice, now with almost 20 years of experience he supports Maya Rail in his role as Training Director. Rob has worked in various roles including deployments throughout the UK, Europe and middle east, Rob is also active on site and in the classroom and understands the importance of maintaining competence with a view to supporting our learners achieving theirs.

Lynsay Clark

Lynsay has worked in Rail since 2013 undertaking various roles that include resourcing, recruitment, and compliance. Lynsay is our financial manager who works closely with Andy and Rob to support the business with effective management of company finance allowing for our continued investment in learner resource and staff development. Lynsay is AAT qualified but continues to work towards her charted status.

Adam Thomson

After 10 years of technical and engineering duties in rail Adam made the transition in to training with the support of Rob and Paul, he quickly achieved his training and assessing qualifications allowing him to pass on his valuable knowledge, skills, and experience to our learners. Adam has a strong background in the application of Rail math, design and survey and he leads the team in developing learner resource and support strategies.

Sam Faulkner

Sam who has over 20 years rail experience working across the UK network transitioned into his training role in 2012 whilst he was mentoring and supporting Rail apprentices deployed in London during the Olympics. Sam quickly progressed into becoming an NSAR assured trainer/assessor after completing his diploma in teaching at the university of Derby. Sam is Widley respected throughout the UK by his peers and his learners alike as confirmed by his continued positive feedback.

Lee Coulter

Lee joined the industry at 18yrs old working on some of the UK's largest projects, highly regarded across the UK railway infrastructure Lee has unrivalled experience and knowledge in relation to safety critical duties ranging from PTS up to ES. Lee has been involved in education and training for the last three years and offers our clients on site assessment capabilities for controller of site safety individual working alone and protection controller. Lee also delivers various track engineering competencies is along with small plant PTMP Lee joins the business as our lead track safety assessor.

Ben Haines

Ben is a time-served Senior Technical Officer with extensive experience in undertaking track quality technical roles on Network Rail managed infrastructure. He has undertaken TME duties and worked accross the majority of W&W and the Southern regions. Having transitioned into education 3 years ago, Ben has established himself as a reputable and reliable rail trainer. Ben joins the team as P-Way Technical Trainer/Assessor and IQA.

Chris Jenson

P Way Trainer/Assessor

Chris is currently a trainer/assessor for Maya Rail, with a specialism in small tools (PTMP) and NVQ delivery. He has been on the railway for almost 13 years, working for a range of tier 2 and 3 companies, such as Vital, CRSA, CRS and Trackwork, and spent 8 years as a trainer assessor and above working for a range of companies and colleges within the rail training industry. For Chris, he likes to ensure that the current and new staff are working at the top of their game and have the best possible experience that he can give them.

Mick Welch

Mick is a technical trainer with Maya Rail. He has 22 years rail experience 13 of them was with network rail. The majority of his rail career has been involved with grinding gsm 053 and 1054 inspections, which he still does on weekends, on network rail's infrastructure. Mick also trains many courses from track patrolling (bvi) supervisor track inspection tg1 tgs track induction 053 1054 trained grinding in Abu Dhabi and that's were his heart lies to get Maya Rail, himself and Rob's training, grinding for network rail in the near future.

Kylie Shelton

Kylie joins the business to bolster the support to both our clients and delivery team. As part of her role Kylie will work accross the business supporting our Sentinel and RTAS administration functions along with scheduling and promoting our open course portfolio. Kylie is new to Rail but brings with her a strong customer focus and experience in client facing roles.
